Magellan’s maker space, the iLab, opened in December 2016, as a result of successful imagining and planning by a team of teachers and students.
Maker Spaces across the country are providing exciting opportunities for students to use design thinking and develop STEAM skills (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics).
At Magellan, we envision our iLab to be a place where students can come with their classes, in small groups, or individually to frame problems, ask questions, create ideas and design solutions.
Each month, special design challenges are offered along with a variety of activities in arts, crafts, sewing, 3D printing, videography, photography, circuitry, robotics, game design and more. To learn more about these activities visit the following link magellantech4u.
Many of our iLab materials come from donations made by our parents and collections of “good creative junk” found at home. If you would like to contribute, visit to the Maker Space visit Magellan Charter School Donation Signup Genius to see what we need. You can also watch for updates in the Magellan Minute. Thank you!
