Mission Statement

The mission of The Magellan Charter School is to provide an academically focused educational opportunity for highly motivated students in grades three through eight. We provide an energizing journey filled with experiences that are interactive and experiential. To facilitate this mission Magellan provides a small, safe, familial environment for students.

We Believe

• The Magellan Charter School is for motivated learners.
• Teachers should empower motivated students with the desire to know more.
• An energizing, educational journey starts by responding to a student's spark.
• Academic grouping in mathematics and language arts facilitates teaching and learning.
• A sound instructional program balances direct instruction with experiential options.
• Diversity of instruction allows for a willingness to explore the ideas of individuals, to collaborate with our constituents, and to accommodate the needs of motivated students.
• Building student confidence through cooperative learning, peer tutoring, and goal setting is an important part of education.
• Teaching responsibility is an important part of a child's education.
• Parental support is critical.
• Children need a nurturing, non-threatening environment for true learning to take place.
• Social interaction is essential to learning.
• Students with an Individual Education Plan will be served in the least restrictive environment.
• The Magellan Charter School is a faculty and Board-directed school supported by parents and students.
